We took the leap!
bought the flooring off Craig's List about a month ago...enlisted a good (new) friend to teach us the basics...borrowed tools from multiple sources (thanks BW!)...and here we are - breaking our backs over the three-day weekend to get the floor in.
Upside: the 'experts' all say the floor will look fantastic - mix of red pine, rustic grade, we've decided to hire someone to do the sanding and sealing, and it *should* be done in time for the lovely
casino_queen's visit (so she will have somewhere to sleep!).
Downside: the wood, well...I know what to check for when I buy flooring now. way too many pieces are unusable - no tongues, damaged tops, angled ends (barely angled cuts that you don't see till the board is in place). so the sorting and install and cutting processes have been very intensive.
